The SMAU 2004 exhibition was held in Milan in October 04.
The SMAU exhibitions in Milan have traditionally been Italy's main exhibition for telecom products. However in recent years the event appears to have declined. Some of the exhibition halls in which the event is held are both old and dark.

Although each of the Italian cellular network operators had provided mobile fill-in stations to enhance cellular capacity within the exhibition area, there were no cellular network operators exhibiting.

The number of cellular handset products on display at SMAU 04 was small compared with most other telecom exhibitions. There are over 170 fully-indexed wireless handset related images from SMAU 04 in the TF Exhibition Survey and the TF Wireless Database.
